چکیده

Background Alzheimer’s is most common neurodegenerative disorder characterized by memory loss due to accumulation of amyloid- β fibrils. There are different pathologies that count for AD like neuro-inflammation. This study highlights the role oxidative stress and inflammation in progression whereas Perillyl alcohol (POH) shows ant & anti-inflammatory properties. Method 54 Sprague Dawley ICV-STZ (3mg/kg) rats (250-300g, 7-8 weeks) were treated with three doses (25, 50 100mg/kg p.o.) 13 days from 15th 27th day. Weight measured on 1st 28th Behavioral analysis had done using OFT MWM. Result treatment significantly attenuates declined body weight induced dementia rats, showed significant increase crossing number, active time. Dementia unable discriminate familiar novel objects, which improved POH. POH STZ acquisition deficits retention time, increased MDA nitrite levels. attenuated depleted levels GSH, Catalase, SOD comparable standard drug donepezil, decreased AChE cortex hippocampus. Conclusion Study outcomes demonstrate neuroprotective potential against administration streptozotocin behavioural biochemical abnormalities. Biventricular infusion produced impairment learning, memory, cholinergic hypo function elevation hippocampal rats. Rats poor between objects MWM ORT. consequences. Observed beneficial effects include restored functions antioxidant mechanisms.

Perillyl alcohol: applications in oncology.

Perillyl alcohol is a monoterpene isolated from the essential oils of lavendin, peppermint, spearmint, cherries, celery seeds, and several other plants. In animal studies it has been shown to regress pancreatic, mammary, and liver tumors, to exhibit possible application as a chemopreventative agent for colon, skin, and lung cancer, and as a chemotherapeutic agent for neuroblastoma, and prostate...

Neuroprotective Effect of Oral Administration of Creatine against 6-Hydroxydopamine Toxicity in Experimental Model of Parkinson's Disease

Background & Aims: With regard to the neuroprotective effect of creatine in some neurological disorders like cerebral ischemia, this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of creatine in an experimental model of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Involvement of oxidative stress was also assessed. Methods: In this experimental study, male rats (n = 40) were divided into 5 groups, i.e. sham-operated (...

Perillyl alcohol is an angiogenesis inhibitor.

Aberrant angiogenesis is essential for the progression of solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Thus, antiangiogenic therapy is one of the most promising approaches to control cancer. In the present work, we examined the ability of perillyl alcohol (POH), a dietary monoterpene with well-established tumor chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic activity, to interfere with the process of angi...

Neuroprotective effect of quercetin in a model of Parkinson’s disease in rat: A histochemical analysis

AbstractIntroduction: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neuropathological disorder involving the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, with the subsequent loss of their terminals in the striatum. Quercetin, a natural flavonoid, is a strong antioxidant and radical scavenger. Therefore, its neuroprotective effect in a model of Parkinson’s disease in rat was evaluated. Methods: ...
